About AVL Global, Inc.
AVL Global, Inc is a US based, young public company committed to providing business and consumer markets with innovative, cost effective, user friendly vehicle tracking solutions that create customer value through decreased cost and improved productivity.
AVL employs GSM/GPRS communication technology and GPS satellite tracking to improve utilization of the two most expensive resources that are unsupervised 95% of the day: mobile assets and people. AVL Global Inc is the designer and creator of this unique technology. AVL owns the end-to-end solution from the in-vehicle hardware to the backend servers. AVL servers host the tracking applications and information, administrative and accounting services and a complete mapping data base covering all of North America, Western Europe, Middle East and Africa.
AVL Global, Inc.'s proprietary product/service system ('Chaperone') allows authorized end-users to track their mobile assets including automobiles, trucks, boats, or any other mobile device of value. The Chaperone is a compact, self-contained GPS/GSM tracking device. These components work together to acquire the location, speed and direction of the vehicle being tracked. This information is then transmitted wirelessly via the Online Vehicle tracking (OVT) system and logged into the system for further use. In the business sector, companies utilize this tracking solution combined with AVL'S information system to optimize performance of their fleets with significant and quick returns on their investment. Long and short haul fleets can be monitored for progress and delivery status to improve productivity and customer satisfaction while reducing the cost of theft of vehicles and expensive inventories. The ability to locate and track stolen units is also a valuable recovery tool for automobile, heavy equipment rental and finance companies.
Business Solutions - Fleet Management
AVL users experience benefits such as adding up to two hours per day of improved driver productivity; significantly reducing the cost of inventory theft and virtually eliminating unauthorized vehicle and equipment use by employees. The elimination of these three factors saves fleet owners thousands of dollars per year generally offering 90 to 180 days return on investment.
Optimizing fleet performance requires measurement tools. AVL offers private and dedicated fleet owners reporting tools to manage their vehicles and drivers. Additionally, AVL Fleet Information Managers have regular contact with customers, providing client support, identifying additional cost saving or income generating opportunities, and making other observations based on AVL fleet analytical tools.
Business Solutions - Trailer Tracking
The three most prominent problems encountered in this industry are:
1. Loss and Theft of Trailers
2. Theft of Inventory
3. Incorrect Deliver of Trailer
By locating any lost or stolen trailers the Chaperone not only makes recovering the goods easy but also helps in reducing insurance and other contingency cost related to such retrieval.
Another solution the Chaperone provides is the alerts it gives when a trailer door is open without authorization. This helps managers track down and identify the location, time and responsible parties, thus significantly reducing inventory theft.
By working either alone or in conjunction with other AVL fleet management tools, loads can be tracked en route to identify and correct delivery problems.
Finally, when considering the benefit such solution offer a business, one understand that a single recovered trailer or averted mistake can more than pay for the Chaperone system.
Consumer Solutions - Theft Protection
AVL's vehicle location and theft protection system will identify and locate your car in the event of theft or unauthorized use.
Auto Theft is the nation's number one property crime, costing over 8.4 billion dollars each year. Second only to drug dealing, auto theft is the next most profitable criminal activity. Conventionalcar alarms put most consumers' minds at ease about the safety of their vehicles. Unfortunately, today's professional car thieves quickly bypass car alarms, leaving the average vehicle easily susceptible to auto theft.
AVL's Chaperone tracking device will notify owner's of unauthorized movement and allows for real-time control and historical viewing of status and alarm data, including speed, direction of travel, and most importantly location. This information is viewed through the Vehicle Tracking web site, using any standard web browser, which makes access to the system convenient and easy.
The frequency and cost of auto theft in the European Union is driving legislation requiring compulsory use of after-theft location equipment in all registered vehicles by 2006. Belgium is spearheading the movement and it is felt that all automobiles will be required to be fitted with such equipment in 2005.
The compulsory nature of European Union's legislation presents a demand generator for the product exceeding 129 million vehicles that must be fitted with this equipment plus a market size of a minimum of 215 million automobile and trucks within the United States for a combined market of potential clients of 344 million customers on both sides of the Atlantic Ocean. These figures exclude recreational vehicles and farm-tractors even though some insurers now require the units to be fitted with after-theft location equipment or trackers as a prerequisite to issuance of theft assurance coverage.
Consumer Solutions - Personal Safety
With the increased threats such as terrorism, abduction, missing people and other negative elements, the ability to notify authorities via a number of options (ie panic button), track and instantly locate any vehicle/person is potentially saving lives and averting disaster.
The benefits to personal safety through the useof GPS tracking devices far outweigh any privacy concerns.
Additionally, there may be some instances where it is desirable to determine the location of assets and people without raising suspicion. The compact size of the AVL Chaperone allows it to be discretely hidden to avoid detection
